ill kiddie

i am not very well.

i am totally not used to this, i picked up a bad cough on friday and was too run down to fight it and then it became a full blown cold.

i guess this is what i deserve for this weekend, where i climbed along a wall, tried to sail a boat and build a bridge, built a raft and paddled it around, got soaked quite a few times, took a couple of cold showers, ate canteen food and didn't sleep enough.

tough as the weekend was the people on my course are stars and i am well glad i went!

but yeh, i'm gunna need a few days off work to recover from this. dave is making me a niace curry i can smell it which means it must be good!! :-)

mel visits soon and i would like to be over this by then, i should be anyway!

update/consumption

i haven't written anything on here cuz i got a job and i moved house. both of which are proper time consuming. i don't do much at the moment that isn't a chore or work.

however, due to this 'work' buisness, i am now earning both money and the excuse/ability to improve things in my general life that are not *completly* rubbish, but could probably do with improving.

for example, i own 2 towels. both of these towels predate my current and previous relationships. to conclude, i've had em since i was at school. they both still do the job, but tbh, the piggehs have better quality towels than i do, so i might replace them both. (the towels, not the piggehs)

for another example, my shoes have a hole in them the size of a 1p. cracks in the soles mean i have to avoid even the smallest of puddles. this is not the best good plan really, living in the rainiest city in the uk means that ideally, you wear wellies.

that reminds me, my wellies have holes in too, i could do with some new ones.

also needed is a microwave, our current one is probably older than i am, it sparks and it makes the flat smell of burning. i have been eating cold ready brek this week and it's only just occurred to me that life doesn't have to be like this.

a post about a roast i love the most.

i made a roast yesterday, for the first time in ages, and the first time since we moved. it was a chicken and i am told it was nice (this isn't an 'i am told i am cute and hugable' type thing, i didn't eat any myself u c) it was yummy, and (gross) my hands still smell of the 3 garlic bulbs that were peeled and added to various bits of roastyness. since making the roast, the leftovers are now becoming a seris of roast-themed meals, like roast sandwiches, roasty toasies, um, roast potato for breakfast and now, roast veg couscous made with chicken stock.. i feel like that stupid hugh guy with the chicken thing, trying to make as many meals as poss out of one roast dinner... stay tuned for potential updates lol

cooking

it's been ages since i did a cooking related post, and since i am too brain dead to write much else tonight, here's what i cooked

um...

i call it sweet potato-onion surprise.

we had a big ol' bunch of onions (which was the style at the time)
a load of sweet potatoes we hadn't used up due to the fact that they are long to prepare
and um, no rice! argh! so.. some... couscous

i boiled the sweet pots for a little while (boiling them too much results in sweet potato mash, it makes mash whether u want it or not so u have to keep an eye on the little fiends) and fried the onions and some frozen peppers i found with a whole bunch of spices, mostly tumeric and chilli powder so it was lovely dark orange-y and a big squidge of garlic paste then i made some couscous and bunged that in too. it was really nice, if a little bit 0niony lol but srsly, bargainous way to use up stuff.

in other news, the reason i am using up stuff is cuz teh mello will be coming to stay on weds and i figured i'd take her f00d shopping so we can get stuff she actually likes.

i bet she is really excited about this lol... i know how 2 show my friends a good time! supermarkets!! wooo!

slimy, yet satisfying

*random note - the titles of my blog posts are not spell checked by the comp the way the rest of my wordz are. as a result, i think a few of them are spelled wrong but hopefully u get me anyway. i refuse to believe that the above is spelled correctly, and am twitching at it. i am sure i am wrong. gaarraaggh!!

on with the post...

today there is a cheesecake in my fridge. does that sound rude to anyone or have i been left alone too long with kids that chuckle at... anything?

i love cheesecake, i think i have posted about it a few times before. my love of cheesecake is like my love of lemon iced cakes, but much much munch more.

i can't eat it... still. this is just *wrong* - right i'll explain... too much sugar (especially when eaten without anything else non sugary) makes me hyper as a 3 year old on smarties, and about half an hour later, i crash in a big way, hot/cold/tired/nauseous/headache - it's why on shopping trips i can top up with a chocolate bar, if i am tres hungry i will take the crisps instead. this is often the problem with going out drinking as well, i'm pretty sure i get half the buzz from the mixers!

i am usually pretty good with this, cuz i know exactly how rubbish the after effects are. feel pretty crap right now. wanna go to bed but am twitching. meh

so i fixed myself some munch.

in a hypercrazy mood i will cook anything and everything, and i crave more sugar cuz i think it will take me back to the hyperness -- so i have to be careful

i cooked:
a veggie sausage
the remains of some curly fries
a super noodle??
some peas
some mushroom soup that i used as a pasta sauce yesterday with sweetcorn

man that was some slimy food!

i just realised that this post is going nowhere in a grampa simpson kinda way so i will just conclude with 'it asome nice munch and now i am writing about it cuz i am bored and can't move cuz my legs ache'

on sloth, gluttony and being an antisocial arse

so tonight i *could* have gone to rollerworld
i could have gone for a walk
i could have done the laundry
i could have tidyed the room
i could have [insert misc housework]
i should have called my mum
my boss should have called me
i should get off my ass and go wash up my plate, maybe make a cuppa (decaf) tea

fact is, i suffer from sloth. and for that matter, i also suffer from gluttony, and the two combined are lethal. for example, tonight i had a can of beans with veggie sausages in, i cooked the whole can because i couldn't be arsed to put half the can in a plastic tub, as i am home alone and i couldn't be bothered to wash the tub up whenever i eat the rest of the beans..

I KNOW

also, i have a cheesecake in the fridge, and i LOVE cheesecake. but i am too full to eat it but tonight i might eat it because it is so nice. its a stawberry one, not quite a lemon but GET THIS, i have lemon cakes too! no i am not going in the kitchen, cuz i know if i do, i will do something that will make me feel ill. i know there is no room left at the inn after that whole can of beans.

so at the moment, the sloth is preventing the gluttony.

what is also preventing the gluttony is that there are people in the kitchen. nice people, i met them about 2 weeks ago when i moved in. but tonight i am also suffering from being an antisocial arse and i don't want to go in the kitchen in case i have to *talk* to someone

sigh

what do vegetarians actually eat?

i've heard this question SO many times that i really want it answered on the interwebs.. so i am thinking of starting a blog about what i eat. i know hardly anyone looks at this blog but i wondered if i could answer an age old question with another blog, since i do like posting about food and i do have a wicked camera on my phone.

my motives are
* my mum *still* asks me what vegetarians eat.
* i'm fed up of hearing 'omg so and so is coming over and they are a vegetarian and i haven't got anything vegetarian to eat!!'
* also fed up of thinking veggies are malnourished or eat not much/never get any variety.

my issues are
* can i actually be arsed to set up a blog for this purpose?
* will i bother to maintain it... if so, when?
* is there any point?

if anyone (um.. the 2 people that read this lol) has any define inspiration pls 2 let me know!

also sorry about the spellings on here tonight i can't seem to work out if the spellchecker is on and my spelling is AVERAGE lol not terrible!! but i still apologise.

food, naughty

last night we went to tescos.

i couldn't resist, it was so beautiful and it tricked me to go in it!

i added 2 milkshakes and a bag of lime & corriander popudums to the list, and d added an enormous bottle of wine (it was quite impressive must be said) and then we got some bread.

this had to be done really, as we got word today that we will not be moving today, and now we will have to eat frozen veggies in curry paste for the next 3 days. with flour. and rice.

the food situation

we are moving at the weekend, not far, but far enough to know that we will ruin any freezer food we try to take with us! alas!!

so, our mission this week is to cut down on the amount of stuff we have to take with us, by eating/drinking it. i figured it would be quite fun to try and document this...

we got

in the fridge:
about a pint of milk
sweet chilli sauce
bbq sauce
sweetcorn and cucumber (soon to be gone)
some seafood ready meal
loads of tinned mackerel (wtf is that doing in the fridge anyway?)
2 dairylea triangles
butter
vitalite
2 small servings of breakfast pasta
4 fajita wraps
curry pastes

in the freezer:
1/2 bag frozen sweetcorn
bag of veggie mince
chicken fillets
tub of sugarfree lemon sorbet
2 saltana scones
a peshwari naan
a little bit of ben and jerrys cookie dough
2 veggie springrolls
1/2 a loaf of bread

dry food wise:
infinite spices
soy sauce, cooking oils, vinegar, etc
plain and self raising flour
sugar (normal and fruit)
about 27 portions of stuffing!
rice
teeny bit of pasta
sunflower seeds (might chuck these or plant em lol never know, them growing seems a bit more likely than us eating them!)
a tin of pineapple
a pasta ready packet thing (mushroom flavour)
4 apples
6 onions
and about 6 pot noodles

i think we might die of scurvy by the end of the week! but i aim to keep this blog updated with our aims to get rid of all this stuff by saturday!! heh no way, i hear u say!

i think as well 2muro i will go thru our drinks stocks and share how much drinking we will have to do in order to move house in a light way! heeheeh

taking teh bizkit (urgh, not limp bizkit they are banned from this blog and my life for being so painfully... painful)

the oreo: not that great!

I personally have had a sort of obsession with oreos since watching 'the parent trap' in which Lindsay Lohan plays *both* twins, and i am impressed by this feat of acting by a child! anyway, when the twins are being punished for fighting each other by being put in the naughty hut at summer camp (another thing americans can please keep for the sake of the children!!) LiLo says to her sister LiLo that she really likes oreos, and that she likes them with peanut butter, which other people find gross.

Now i LOVED peanut butter as a kid (who am i kidding, until i was 20 and i'm still a bit partial to it now!) and i really wanted to try these biscuits that went SO WELL with peanut butter. y'know what? they aren't even that great!!! :-O

so america, you can keep ur oreos if u like, they don't go well with peanut butter (tho jam does i'll give you that), and i don't know if you (y'all?) knew this, but when it comes to biscuits (NOT COOKIES!!) which involves some creamy stuff in the middle, we've had that going on for EVER here, in the form of the true british classics, the custard cream:
the chocolate bourbon cream:

and the legendary jammy dodger:

FYI, this is a cookie, a cookie is a *type* of biscuit (ur doin it rong!)

*disclaimer - the british probably stole these biscuits back when they were making life shite for a 3rd of the world, but they are actually ours not and i think these bics have as good a chance as anything of being something that started out here!

saladness

I have been munching a lot of salady bits lately, and i gotta share this salad topping. It's not rocket science and i'm sure someone out there has done this before but meh...

Bit of Balsamic Vinegar
Spash of soy sauce
and a bit of tescos 'wok oil'

Is vair naice!!
